Facebook’s IOS App Gets A New Music Feature Called Music Stories

Starting from today, Facebook is rolling out a new music feature to iOS users called Music Stories.

This is a new post format that will allow iOS users to listen to 30-second previews of songs or albums from Apple Music, Spotify, and iTunes while on Facebook.

In a post shared on Facebook Media, Michael Cerda, Director of Product wrote:

“The preview is streamed from either Apple Music or Spotify (depending on the source of the link shared), and can be purchased from or saved to the respective music streaming service.”

“The previews from Apple Music and iTunes are available directly through Facebook.” By clicking on a single button on a post, users can easily purchase the songs or albums from iTunes.

With “Music stories”, iOS users will be able to sample the songs and albums they want, and they won’t have to leave Facebook app. To listen to 30-second previews of songs and albums, users don’t need to have Apple Music or Spotify installed on their devices, or be subscribed to these music services, The Verge reports.

Music Story support will be expanded soon for additional streaming music services.
