How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S8 Audio Problems

Galaxy S8 is another fantastic Samsung phone, but it is not without its flaws. One such flaw is the location of the fingerprint sensor. Samsung allotted the fingerprint sensor at the back of the device just next to the rear camera, and users have complained about this odd position.

Next comes that red tint issue, a software glitch, and Samsung has addressed that issue by updating the software. But now users are complaining about the audio issue.

According to users, the Samsung Galaxy S8 sound cuts out while watching videos, streaming videos, playing any game, or listening to music.

In this article, we will list some practical methods to solve this issue, but before that, check to see if you have muted the phone and ensure the headphones are correctly attached.

Potential Fixes For Samsung Galaxy S8 Sound Cutout Issue

Solution 1: Force reboot

The first solution is to perform a force reboot on your Samsung Galaxy S8 device.

  • Press and hold down the Power and Volume down buttons together for around 7-10 seconds.
  • The phone will vibrate and will turn off.
  • Then turn on the device the usual way.

If the problem was due to some minor firmware issue, a quick restart will fix it.

Solution 2: Use the fingers

The next trick is odd and does not require you to open the settings app or perform anything on the phone. Instead, firmly press around 2 inches above the speaker of the Galaxy S8.

Some users have claimed that this method resolves the Galaxy S8 audio cuts-out issue. But ensure not to put too much pressure as this may damage the speaker further.

Solution 3: Turn on the "Prevent USB audio routing"

Enable the developer option in your Galaxy S8 by selecting Settings > About device and tapping the build number seven times. Once the developer option is enabled, head to the Developer option and scroll down to get the Media option. There you will notice an option 'Prevent USB audio routing.’ Turn this option on by toggling the switch.

Solution 4: Check the headphone jack

If you have tried all the other methods explained here but are still left with the same problem, the next step is to check the headphone jack.

Accumulated dust in the jack can give rise to audio issues. So, check it properly and blow air to clean the dust.

Solution 5: Test the speaker

If the speaker itself is not in good condition, then the other methods will not be able to help you. Check if the speaker on your device is working. You can check this by dialing *#0*# from your dealer and following the on-screen instructions.

Solution 6: Boot in safe mode

If the speaker is okay, some third-party apps might create this audio issue on your device. So, boot the phone in safe mode to confirm this. Here's how to boot your Galaxy S8 in safe mode:

  • First, turn off the device.
  • Next, press the Power button for a few seconds until you notice the Samsung logo on the screen.
  • Release the power key and hold down the Volume down button until the phone completely restarts and safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen.

A third-party app is the culprit if the audio issue is resolved in safe mode. Uninstall third-party apps one by one until the problem is solved. Our suggestion is to start with the apps you installed recently, right before the issue occurred.

Solution 7: Factory reset

Factory reset is the last option you can use to resolve all kinds of issues, including the S8 sound problems. Before proceeding to the steps below, backup all your data because a factory reset erases everything.

Here is what you need to do:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Backup & reset
  • Tap Factory data reset
  • Finally, tap Erase all data.

It will take a few minutes to erase everything from the device, after which you are required to set up your Galaxy S8 from scratch.

So, these are the methods you can use to resolve the Samsung Galaxy S8 audio issues.
