What to do if your Samsung Galaxy S20 5G can’t make or receive calls

If you are having trouble making a call or can’t receive the calls, it’s time for some action.

Check the Airplane mode

If the Airplane mode is enabled, you won’t be able to make or receive calls or use the Wi-Fi or mobile data. You can open the Quick settings or go to Settings to make sure this mode is turned off. When you disable this mode, the mobile network will be enabled, and the calls will start working normally.

Restart

Phones may become buggy or stumble upon some minor issues in performance, so before doing anything more complex, go for a restart. Press and hold the Side button and the Volume down. Tap Restart and confirm.

Check the SIM card

Perhaps the SIM card is damaged, or it is not placed correctly. What you need to do is remove the card from the phone and inspect it for damage. If you notice the card is damaged, contact your carrier, and you will get a new card. If not, place it back carefully.

Reset network settings

Whenever you have some network-related issues with your phone, one of the best solutions is to reset network settings. You will have some work to do afterward –  all the settings will go back to factory defaults, and you will have to adjust them according to your desires.

  • Go to Settings > General Management
  • Next, tap Reset
  • Tap Reset network settings
  • Tap Reset to confirm.

Reset all settings

Another option is to reset all settings on the device back to factory defaults. To do that:

  • Head over to Settings > General Management
  • Next, tap Reset
  • Tap Reset settings
  • Tap Reset to confirm.

Factory reset

As a last option, there’s a factory reset. The reset will erase everything you have on your phone, images, data, apps, etc. So, before doing it, create the backup. When you are done, follow these steps:

  • Head over to Settings > General Management
  • Next, tap Reset
  • Tap Factory data reset
  • Tap Reset and confirm the action.

The process will take a while. When it is all done, follow the guide on the screen and set up the phone as new.
