Google Play Music allows you to enjoy listening to your favorite songs no matter where you are. When you are out, you will use your data for this music streaming service, and if you have a limited data plan, you may find that you spent a lot more than you initially planned to. If you are wondering if you can do something about it, the answer is yes. Here, we will show you how to reduce data usage on Google Play Music.

How to Reduce Data Usage on Google Play Music

Google Play Music offers a choice regarding the quality of streaming. The higher the quality you choose, the higher the usage. You can choose the quality of Wi-Fi streaming – in this case; you should go for the high quality as you won’t have any additional costs. Regarding the mobile data quality of streaming, go for the Low option because you will reduce data usage and avoid additional charges.

You can find these options in the Settings menu of Google Play Music. The options are located in the Playback section. You will see the following:

  • Quality on Wi-Fi network – choose High
  • Quality on mobile network – choose Low
  • Stream only on Wi-Fi.

The third option is the one to go for if you don’t want to stream the music using the mobile network. As the name suggests, the music will only stream when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

By tweaking the settings a bit and choosing the right options, you’ll be able to reduce data usage when using the app.
