As mentioned, this issue is not difficult to fix. However, you need to have some patience until you find the solution that works for you. Let’s start.

  • Restart your phone – the first thing you need to do whenever your phone is not working right is restart it. A reboot will close the apps and the processes that are turned on and running in the background. It will also refresh the phone’s memory.
  • Check the spam – sometimes, the text message goes into the Spam section in the messaging app. It can happen especially with messages used for two-factor authentication. You need to open the messaging app, tap on the menu button, and then open Spam. Hopefully, the message you’re looking for is going to be there.
  • Clear the messaging app cache – head over to Settings > Apps, find the messaging app, tap Storage, and tap Clear cache.
  • Get app and software updates – make sure that everything on your device is up to date. Open Play Store, tap on your photo, and then tap on Manage apps and device. If the app updates are available, tap Update all. Also, make sure you have the latest software version. Head over to Settings > Software Update and tap Download and install.
  • Reinsert the SIM card – open the sim card tray, remove the card and then place it back.
  • Reset network settings – here, go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings. Tap Reset network settings to confirm. After doing this, you will have to set up network settings according to your preferences all over again, including Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, etc.
  • Reset all settings – go to  Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset settings. Tap Reset settings to confirm.
  • Factory data reset – when nothing works, go for a factory data reset, but make sure to create a backup first. Once you are done, go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Factory data reset. Finally, tap Reset to confirm. Wait for the process to complete and then set up your S20/S20+ as a new device.
